    Habema Medical Services: A Beacon of Hope for Puyagiya Village Residents

    INTAN JAYA - A heartfelt display of care and commitment was shown by the Raider Infantry Battalion 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad, one of the military units under the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA. Operating in the challenging terrain of Papua Tengah Province, the Task Forces extended their efforts beyond security by providing much-needed medical services to the residents of Puyagiya Village, Sugapa District, on Friday, December 27, 2024.

    The visit, which was part of a planned patrol, highlighted the 509 Task Forces’ dedication to addressing the fundamental needs of the local community. The Commander of the 509 Task Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, emphasized the significance of focusing on community welfare during the team’s assignments. With this directive in mind, First Lieutenant Wanianto of the Holomama Post meticulously planned the patrol, equipping the team with medical personnel, necessary health equipment, and medicines.

    Puyagiya Village, known for its remote location and occasional security challenges from the Free Papua Movement Organization (OPM), welcomed the Task Forces warmly. Residents expressed their gratitude and relief upon the arrival of the team. Among the patrol team was First Lieutenant Doctor Hadi Widiyanto, who diligently attended to residents suffering from various ailments.

    One of the residents, Mr. Rio Mujizau, who received treatment, expressed his heartfelt appreciation: "Thank you, Commander 509. I am feeling better now. God bless."

    The HABEMA Commanding General, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, lauded the efforts of the 509 Task Forces for their initiative in providing medical services. He remarked: "The 509 Task Forces' initiative reflects TNI’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling the community's essential needs while supporting the acceleration of Papua’s development."

    This act of compassion underscores the profound role of TNI not just as protectors of security but as facilitators of welfare in the region. The gesture not only addresses immediate health concerns but also fosters trust, hope, and optimism for a brighter future in Papua.
